Temperature Compensation Because of their design, it is not necessary to compensate Brookfield in-line viscometers for the effects of temperature change upon their calibration. However, it is frequently necessary to know what the viscosity of a fluid would be at a temperature (reference temperature) which differs from the actual temperature of the fluid as it is being measured. The Brookfield Temperature Compensation system is offered to provide this function. The system is designed to accept inputs of both viscosity and temperature from the fluid being measured; these inputs are compared to a predetermined temperature vs. viscosity curve for that fluid; and the viscosity value at a reference (fixed) temperature calculated and provided as an output. This system, usually coupled with a temperature transmitting system, is available as an accessory for the TT100®. It is available for either non-hazardous or hazardous area service.
