TTVS/CC Variable Speed In-Line Viscometer
The TTVS/CC instruments use Brookfield's most advanced technology to measure absolute viscosity of fluids in-process. Their universal design allows convenient mounting in pipes or tanks. The variable speed drive provides for a broad range of shear rates to create detailed rheological profiles of material behavior. Ability to control shear phenomena, temperature and pressure concurrently while measuring viscosity offers industry important new process control and analysis capabilities.
- Potential users - R&D personnel, process engineers, QC engineers
- Typical materials - emulsions, gels, dispersions, slurries, mixed-phase solutions
- Industrial applications - chemicals/polymers/silicones, foods/sauces/soups, coatings/paints/inks, ceramics/slips, petroleum fuels/lubricants
- Determine material viscosity behavior in process and relate to final material properties
- Evaluate different materials in the process flow for shear sensitivity
- Characterize materials with variable rheological properties
- Formulation and blending operations that produce a variety of viscosity ranges in the final product
- Sizing control equipment for specific process plant operations
Operation
The TTVS/CC series rotational viscometers are designed to work in fully flooded systems. The instrument is supplied in two versions, pipeline mounted for insertion into the process stream and wall mounted for immersion into a tank. The coaxial cylinder geometry generates defined shear rates and is driven by a precision stepping motor. The viscometer's sensing system uses an advanced torque tube design that requires no seals and has virtually no friction, thus allowing excellent sensitivity and reproducibility.
The TTVS/CC is completely automatic in operation under PC control with its accompanying software. Variable shear rate ranges from 0.02 sec-1 to 12,000 sec-1 ,and may be set in increments as low as 0.02 sec-1. This wide range of shear rates is achieved, in part, by mechanically changing spindle/chamber geometries.
